SP 9022 in ‘Grande Gold’ Patch Paint, and D&RGW 4001 & 4003—mid-1960s Modified Versions

Both D&RGW and SP started modifying their KM locos shortly after delivery. D&RGW added lower air intake screens and moved the air reservoirs to the middles of the roofs before selling their trio to SP. SP 9022 ran for quite a while in its faded and patched ‘Grande Gold’ paint, a bright spot of color in a vast sea of SP Gray. All of these PIKO models feature accurate details and our ‘pre-weathered’ paint colors for a completely authentic look.
